What good is a blog named my sambol without a actual recipe for a sambol ? Well beat me to it. decided that I'm going to include one just for fun :)
1 tsp of salt
1 tbsp maldive fish (optional)
1/2 lime
Now there's the traditional way of getting your hand dirty and sweaty using the motar and pestle or the modern way of putting all the ingredients in a food processor. add all the ingridients except lemon and grindit all together. add the lime at the end. give it a good mix and off you go. you can figure out which way is more fun !
Now you might wonder what this sambol is good with. theres lots of food that you can try this sambol with, to name a few,
- oriental fried rice
- rice with coconut milk, some call it nasi lemak specially if you are Malaysian
- Hoppers ( google for hoppers if you dont know what it looks like )
- and with just about any dish that requires some fireworks of chilli.
Dont forget to keep a glass of water with you when you are trying it out. :)
